Veterinary Medicine SIG
Chair
Gary Allen, University
of Missouri
Scope Statement
Veterinary Medicine (Vet Med) represents a domain of life
sciences that, while having much in common with human medicine,
has unique issues and opportunities for the application of
advanced network and computer applications.
The Vet Med Special Interest Group (SIG) gives veterinary
medicine a way to partner with both engineering and medical
communities and represents a significant opportunity for all
these professions. In addition, most of the AVMA-accredited
veterinary colleges in the U.S. are located at Internet2 member
institutions. The Groupīs interests involve comparative
medicine via the Access Grid and facilitating digital video/Access
Grid workshops.
The Internet2 Veterinary Medicine SIG includes clinical practice,
veterinary medical and related biological research, education
and public awareness of veterinary medical-related issues.
